Seeing RED!!!

This is my wonderful paintjob in the basement bathroom. I know you can't see just how crazy it looks from the picture! But...trust me!! I went with RED, yes red. It's this great funky cranberry color. However, red paint is not the easiest thing to work with & it goes on streaky & not very cute. I even primed with a tinted primer to help with the red, just like I was told to. I have never had any trouble with my painting "skills" but this red color has given me a run for my money. It does look better now, but that is after 3 coats! I think I should do another one too. Wow, remind me to not mess with red again!

This little mess is what happens when my 4 year old "helps" in the basement. He dropped a paint lid into the red paint & FLUNG it around. And...yes that is the trim all stacked up ready to be put up that he dropped the lid on. It's going to be fabulous trying to cover up the red flings of paint on the tan walls & cream trim. It's lucky he's cute! I'll just leave it at that...
I can't wait for the basement to be done, I can't wait for the basement to be done, I can't wait for the basment to be done...etc!

OK you are now my new second best blog friend (Swishy is my best!) LOL... and get this--is your color paint a Disney Paint, and is it firefly or something like that?? It is TOTALLY PRACTICALLY EXACTLY THE SAME COLOR OF MY OFFICE!

LOVE IT!

oh, and reading the end of your post with the ICANTWAITFORTHEBASEMENTTOBEDONE reminded me of:

REDRUMREDRUMREDRUM...

Type that word fast without spaces--it's VERY HARD!

Manic- I actually looked at the disney paint! How funny! The one I went with was Behr (sp?) the color was called Ripe Currant! I really LOVE the color, but the painting licked. (we both have great taste)
oh & I love the reference to The Shining! REDRUMREDRUM, I'm still scared out of my mind by that damn movie!! ha ha

Stacey-
I would love to come & paint. I usually love to paint & decorate. I've even done some of the cool faux finishes. But, I didn't do a good job in the Red bathroom!
too bad

Manic- It's still a TAD streaky. My sister said she doesn't think anyone will notice but me...but aren't I the only one that matters?! ha ha. I'm going to wait & see how it looks with the vanity & everything in & if it still looks bad I'm going to do a glaze on top. I really do think it's okay, just not perfect.
Anyhow, when do I get chapter 2?!
Love ya!!

I paint professionally and I've had to do as many as five coats with certain red tones, keep going for the payoff.

I bet that first coat looked magenta.
