BrOoKiEs RoOm!!

So, now that Brooke is almost a year old, I decided to decorate her room. I think it turned out pretty cute! If I do say so myself! I finished the flowers late last night & needed to show someone, so I made my sister come over to see it.
I think I just might have to do the other kids rooms now. I've had such a hard time deciding what I wanted to do in the older kids rooms, that I keep putting it off. So, we'll see if I make a decision & finally get them done. But, as for now the baby's room is cutie patootie!!

~I just don't want the older kids to out grow what I do in their rooms, ya know tomorrow. So, any suggestions? What have ya'll done in your kids rooms that you've loved? tell tell!!

A Day at the Zoo...

So, it has been Spring Break here this week & we decided to take our little zoo to The Zoo. It was a fun day!
Here are the kids in the new Asian Highland exhibit, with all the big cats. This Leopard tried to kiss Avery through the glass a few times. She must have looked extra sweet to the big guy, because he was pacing by the window, & stopped in Averys face half a dozen times.
Brookie was VERY impressed by it all!!
Cute kids, looking at a Big Huge Rhino. Avery stood up on the little fence there & started laughing hysterically. When I put the camera down to ask what was so funny, she pointed to the left & said "Look big HUGE Rhino BUM!" There was another Rhino down on the other end of the pen, showing us his backside. They all thought that was the funniest thing they had ever seen!!
Here are the kids posing in front of two COUGARS!! We had to go straight there & show them what our new next door neighbors look like. These two were shading themselves under their little house & not at all interested in us. I don't think it helped Savannahs fear the the "little cats". Even behind a huge enclosure she wasn't so sure about standing there. I think I have ruined her for life. But, that is another story...

It was a fun day at the Zoo. It was really nice to have nice enough weather to even brave going out to the Zoo. The kids had fun looking at all the stinky animals & the Mom & the Dad had tons of fun people watching. Let's just say not all the animals were in cages today...

Hope everyone else had a GREAT Spring Break!!!

Here's My Story for Ya...

So, I had problems with nursing. I was a little on the retarded side...

I had my first baby in December just a couple weeks before Christmas. So, as you can imagine it was a VERY busy first couple of weeks. Work parties to attend, family parties to attend, everyone wanted to see our new little chubby Savannah. Of course being a first time Mom I was VERY happy to show her off! (it's funny how with each kid after you're more & more content to stay home for the first few weeks) Well, we had been here & there & most everywhere with our new little cholic-y, upset stomach, can't nurse very well, bundle of joy.

A week or so after Christmas a baby shower was thrown for my cousin. She was about to have her first baby too & we were all meeting to shower her with gifts. Well, I hadn't seen this side of the family yet, & I was quite excited to take my new baby up to meet everyone. My cousin loved getting a good look at Savannah & was of course a little in awe by what she was about to go through. I tried to tell her all sorts of "don't worry it's a piece of cake" kind of stories. Ya know, like labor is a breeze, recovery is no biggie, & newborns sleep a lot! Basically I was lying to her. But I didn't want to scare the pee right out of her.

I had tried to reassure her, & thought I had done an alright job of it. However, I couldn't really hide a few things from her. Especially since I had proof to the contrary with me! So, as I said above I was a little on the lame side when it came to nursing. Savannah & I both had our problems with it. I had tried to feed her right as we left so that I wouldn't have to nurse her while we were gone. Well, that didn't exactly work. It was becoming very clear that both myself & Savannah needed to nurse! Because I had retarded boobs, I hadn't had a whole lot of problems with leaking. Well of all the days to develop that problem! I tried to be sneaky & nurse on a chair in the corner of the room, so I wouldn't have to miss out on any of the party.

Even when you aren't a bit of a doofus like I am, it's not easy to latch a baby onto an overly ready to be nursed boob! So, add my idiocy to the mix & it's a disaster! I had no idea that when you are that "full" & you unleash them they tend to have a mind of their own. Wow, I was so uncoordinated & poor Savannah was choking & getting sprayed in the face. So, she ends up screaming LOUDLY! As I tried to coax her into latching on she completely freaked out. I tried to try the other side, tried the binki while I got situated, as I'm fumbling with a screaming newborn & playing the role of a drinking fountain I look up & see that my cousins husband has just walked in & I have flashed him! Not just flashed him a glimpse at nursing boobs, which he will see in a few short weeks anyhow, but SPRAYING nursing boobs. I have to say I don't embarrass easy, but I was 3 shades of red by this time. I finally just give up, I covered up as best I can, try to grab the diaper bag, screaming baby, & my dignity to find a back room to set up shop in & try again. As I stand up to leave the room I realize I am wet to my WAIST!!! Yep, my waist!!!

I think my poor sweet cousin chose to go with formula after spending the afternoon with me. I'm so glad those days are behind me!!

**Thanks everyone for your great stories! I love to hear them, you all delivered!!

Baby Shower Talk & Breast Feeding Stories...

So, tonight I went to my cute friend Alysons baby shower. It was so much fun! We met at a local Mexican Restaurant & I think we scared the crap out of the poor unsuspecting staff!

Hee hee, get a bunch of crazy women together, especially at a BABY SHOWER & it of course turns into going into labor stories, hilarious & not so hilarious pregnancy stories, and then of course the boob stories come out! I mean honestly, there just isn't a good "my labor took 12 hours" or "my water broke in the middle of dinner" story that doesn't end with talking about boobs! I know what all men are going to say, "yeah & what's the problem?" But, really nursing boobs are a different story. Trying to latch a screaming baby onto an overly ready to be nursed breast, when some other newborn cries during church & you realize you're leaking - IN PUBLIC! When you're a new Mom & still weepy you wake up one morning and realize you're drippy, everywhere! Retarded boobs that don't work, boobs that work double time! I know fun topic huh? But it was SO much fun to listen to everyone elses crazy stories!!

One lady, (who is one of my favorites) told a story about being so tired after giving birth & leaving the hospital after a VERY short time & trying to wake up the baby to nurse & realizing it was actually her husband. I almost wet myself after that story!! She also had a dream that the baby had been in the bed with them & she lost her, so her husband woke up to her frantically searching the bed for the baby. The baby was of course sleeping soundly in her bassinet. I think we all have had similar stories to that.

So after the baby shower was over and since my kids were at home with their Dad, I decided to run to Walmart. I was walking around Walmart snickering to myself about all the funny things we had talked about. Yes, I was just another mental patient frequenting Walmart late at night!

This is my question for you all... What are your funny labor, new baby, new Mommy or Daddy, trying to breast feed, stories? I want to hear them!! Lay 'em on me!!
